“Who’s your doctor?”

doctor cartoon

I am often asked this question by many of my new clients when they move to Daniel Island. What doctor is the best? Well I’m no doctor detector but my father was a dentist so I do know a little about patient care so here is the list of the doctors that I (and my husband) patronize. We like to use doctors on Daniel Island not only to support them but it also makes it easy to reschedule appointments and provides that home town feel we grew up with.

Feel free to mention my name if you do contact them. We have been with them since moving here 8 years ago and have been very happy with their services.
Our primary care physician is Dr. Lucy Davis (843) 856-6402
For eye care we go to Dr. Charlie Turner (843) 471-2733
For skin care/dermatology – Dr. Eleanor Sahn (843) 971-4460
For audiology we go to Dr. Jennifer Esse (843) 971-4199
And for dental services we travel off the island to ION and see Dr. Eric Horecky (a DI resident) (843) 388-0059

And should you ever need hospitalization, here’s a fun fact: US News and World Report recently ranked the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) located right here in Charleston as the best hospital in the state. I guess being hospitalized is never “fun” but it’s good to know it is right down the road.

What a difference 6 years make!

jack jordanIMAG0161

Wow, look how my nephews have grown in 6 years! Or how my husband has shrunk in 6 years . . .
As we all know, time is just flying by but check out this photo from my blog from 6 years ago when my nephews (Jack on the left and Jordan in the center) came to visit Daniel Island. The other photo is from our recent trip to Lake Tahoe when Steve played golf with them again. While they are both bigger and stronger than 6 years ago, Steve could not help but mention that he can still beat them. That gap is quickly closing he also admitted.

It was a great visit and just thought you might get a kick out of the two photos. If nothing else it’s a reminder of how quickly time passes so “carpe diem” my friends! And yes when we were in LA, we also visited with Johnny Wactor from the NBC show, “Siberia” and I will keep you updated on that in a future blog. It’s safe to say that Johnny has not yet been eliminated from the show, yet . . .

More reasons to move, visit, or retire to Charleston/Daniel Island

9-ravenel-bridge-dawnThe national media has once again looked favorably on Charleston and Daniel Island. Travel and Leisure Magazine recently came out with their “World’s Best Awards 2013” and voted Charleston the #1 destination in the US and Canada. In addition to the No. 1 City in the U.S. and Canada ranking, the following six Charleston area hotels received 2013 World’s Best Awards.
TOP 100 HOTELS (worldwide):
52. Market Pavilion Hotel
80. Wentworth Mansion
Resorts (40 rooms or more):
27. The Sanctuary Hotel at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Large Hotels (100 rooms or more):
33. Charleston Place
Small Hotels (Fewer than 100 rooms):
1. Market Pavilion Hotel
3. Wentworth Mansion
4. French Quarter Inn
7. Planters Inn

Daniel Island was voted in “the top 50 best mastered planned communities in the US” by Where to Retire Magazine. This marks the 5th year Daniel Island has received this award.

The magazine was impressed by the two private golf courses, and the recreational activities at the Family Circle Tennis Center and Blackbaud Stadium. Boating, crabbing, parks, shops, restaurants, and proximity to Charleston’s abundant medical services were also reasons that the magazine ranked DI so highly. And they didn’t even mention the hospitality that the citizens of Charleston are duly famous for.

So if you haven’t moved or visited Charleston yet, what are you waiting for? Life is short, come live the low country life y’all!

A dip in a pool . . .

Wow, some pool huh? And it’s a pretty nice house that comes with it. And if you have a couple of extra bucks lying around and looking to take a closer look, please just give me a call and I’ll show you around. This house on deepwater is gorgeous! And at just under $5 million it’s currently the most expensive listing on Daniel Island.

Here is a video prepared by Charleston Home and Design which will be featuring the property in their fall issue:

And for the complete listing, click on this link:

Be the first one to live in this house and the first one to dive into the pool! And on a day like today, that sounds like a wonderful idea . . .

Heeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!

Local boy Johnny Wactor is making it in Hollywood! This is a wonderful story about a great guy that worked at The Charleston Grill with my husband, Steve. He is one of the main contestants on “Siberia”, a faux reality show on NBC Monday night at 10 pm. It debuted this week and Steve and I could not stop laughing! It was great to see Johnny get plenty of airtime and I hope to find out the inside scoop as we are having lunch with him in LA next week. He is a really funny guy and plays a “hunky jerk” on the show.

It’s a pretty interesting concept for a tv show and a big break for Johnny who moved to LA about 4 years ago to “make it” as an actor. He grew up in Summerville and graduated from the College of Charleston. He said it’s been a struggle in the beginning but things have been happening lately and who knows what the future holds for him?

Steve and I are looking forward to catching up with Johnny and I will keep you updated on his career. Congratulations Johnny! Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy and make sure you check out “Siberia” on NBC on Monday nights at 10pm.
